Shaded rows are our picks. Assumed load: A standard space heater on its 750W low setting, running nonstop.
Why a heater drains a battery so fast
A space heater turns electricity straight into heat, and heat takes a huge amount of energy. On high, a standard heater pulls 1,500W. That is 25 times an electric blanket and 75 times a router and modem.
A battery holds a fixed amount of energy, counted in watt-hours. A watt-hour is one watt used for one hour. A 1,000Wh unit sounds large until you divide by 1,500W. After losses it lasts 0.6 hours, which is about 36 minutes. A 2,000Wh unit lasts 1.2 hours. The EcoFlow Delta Pro 3, at 4,096Wh and $2,799, lasts 2.3 hours.
It is like filling a bathtub with the drain wide open. The size of the tub hardly matters.
Which units can run one at all
A heater has no big startup burst, so the number that matters is the outlet rating: the watts a station can supply nonstop. It has to be above 1,500W.
Five of the 15 units fall short: the four smallest and the Bluetti AC70 at 1,000W. The Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 is rated at exactly 1,500W. That is no margin, so it is not a pick here.
The low setting doubles the time and halves the heat
Most heaters have a low setting of about 750W. It doubles every runtime: 1.2 hours on a 1,000Wh unit, 2.3 on a 2,000Wh unit, 4.6 on the Delta Pro 3. The Bluetti AC70 can run this setting, for 0.9 hours.
You do not get more heat this way. The battery holds the same energy and you are letting it out more slowly. Low makes sense in a small closed room, where half the heat may be enough.
A heater with a thermostat switches off once the room is warm, which stretches these times. In a cold house during an outage, expect it to run almost nonstop.
Better uses for the same battery
Heat the person and not the room. An electric blanket uses about 60W. A 1,000Wh unit runs one for about 14.5 hours, against 36 minutes for a heater on high. The electric blanket guide has the numbers for every model.
If you have a gas furnace, keep its blower running. The gas makes the heat, and the blower needs only about 600W while it runs to push that heat through the whole house. A 2,000Wh unit covers about 7.3 hours of a cold day that way, against 1.2 hours of one space heater. The furnace needs a safe hookup by an electrician, which the gas furnace guide explains.
If you still want to run one
Use it in short bursts. Warm a bathroom before a shower, or a bedroom before bed, then switch to blankets.
Pick the smallest room you can and shut the door.
Plug the heater straight into the power station and run nothing else on it unless the outlet rating has room. A 1,500W heater and a 150W fridge compressor add up to 1,650W before the fridge’s startup burst.
Do not count on solar to keep up. The EcoFlow Delta 3 Max accepts 500W of solar, a third of what the heater uses on high.
Do not bring a fuel heater indoors
When the battery runs out, do not reach for a grill, a camp stove or an outdoor propane heater inside the house. They give off carbon monoxide, a gas you cannot see or smell, and it can kill.
The picks in detail
EcoFlow Delta 3 Max
- 1.2 hr
- Space heater on high (1,500W)
- 2.3 hr
- Space heater on low (750W)
- $879
- $0.43 per Wh
- 44.8 lb
- Weight
If you accept the numbers, this is the cheapest way to get past an hour. It lists 1.2 hours on high and 2.3 on low for $879, the lowest price in the 2,000Wh class. At $0.43 per watt-hour it ties for the cheapest storage we track. Its 2,400W outlet rating leaves 900W above the heater's 1,500W. It is not the lightest of its size. The Jackery Explorer 2000 v2 weighs 39.5 lb and costs $20 more.
What fits
- 1.2 hours on high, 2.3 hours on low
- $879, the lowest price in the 2,000Wh class
- 2,400W output, 900W above the heater's draw
What does not
- 68 minutes at the wall to reach 80% for 1.2 hours of heat
- 44.8 lb to carry to the room you are heating
EcoFlow's list price is $1,199. The Delta 3 Max Plus is a separate, pricier model.
Anker Solix C1000 Gen 2
- 0.6 hr
- Space heater on high (1,500W)
- 1.2 hr
- Space heater on low (750W)
- $499.99
- $0.49 per Wh
- 24.9 lb
- Weight
Five units in the table cannot run a 1,500W heater at all, and the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 sits exactly at its 1,500W limit. The C1000 Gen 2 has the highest outlet rating of the 1,000Wh units at 2,000W. The Bluetti Elite 100 V2 is $11 cheaper at $489, but its 1,800W rating leaves 300W spare where the Anker leaves 500W. What you get for $499.99 is 0.6 hours on high, about 36 minutes, or 1.2 hours on low. It refills in 49 minutes.
What fits
- 2,000W output, 500W above the heater's draw
- 49-minute wall recharge
What does not
- About 36 minutes of heat on high
- Only 1.2 hours even on low
Anker's list price is $599.99. It has sold for under $430 at other retailers.
Anker Solix F3800
- 2.2 hr
- Space heater on high (1,500W)
- 4.4 hr
- Space heater on low (750W)
- $1,979.99
- $0.52 per Wh
- 132.3 lb
- Weight
The two biggest units are the only ones that pass two hours on high. The F3800 lists 2.2 hours on high and 4.4 on low for $1,979.99. The EcoFlow Delta Pro 3 lists 2.3 and 4.6 for $2,799, which is about $820 more for six extra minutes on high. The F3800's 6,000W output could run the heater and a fridge together. Even so, this is about $900 for each hour of high heat a charge gives, so buy it for other reasons.
What fits
- 2.2 hours on high, 4.4 hours on low
- 6,000W output with room for other loads
What does not
- 132.3 lb
- No wall charge time listed, only an 1,800W input
Anker's list price is $2,199.99. A newer F3800 Plus is sold alongside it for more.
Verdict
Do not buy a power station mainly to run a space heater. If you need one for other reasons and want some heat from it, the EcoFlow Delta 3 Max gives about an hour on high for the least money, and the Anker Solix C1000 Gen 2 gives about 36 minutes for $499.99. The Anker Solix F3800 is the only pick that passes two hours. For a cold night, put the same battery behind an electric blanket or a gas furnace blower, and it lasts many times longer.
How these numbers were worked out. Runtime = battery capacity × efficiency ÷ average watts. We use 85% efficiency for AC outlets and 90% for DC and USB ports, because some energy is lost as heat on the way out. A model is marked "can't run it" when the device needs more watts than the outlet gives, or a bigger startup surge than the unit is rated for. Your own device may draw more or less than our assumed load, so treat these as estimates. Prices were checked on 2026-10-04 and change often. Full method
