Shaded rows are our picks. Assumed load: A cordless tool charger pulling about 200W. Refilling one 18V or 20V 5Ah pack, which holds about 90 watt-hours, uses about 110 watt-hours after charger losses.
The easy job for a power station
A cordless tool charger is a small box that refills a battery pack. A standard one pulls about 200W while it works. It has no motor, so there is no burst of extra power at startup. All 15 models here can supply 200W.
That makes this page different from most. Output is not the question. Capacity is, because it sets how many packs you can refill before the station itself is empty.
Count packs, not hours
A pack’s size is printed in volts and amp-hours (Ah). Amp-hours work like the size of a fuel tank. A 5Ah pack at 18V or 20V holds about 90 watt-hours. A watt-hour is a unit of energy: one watt used for one hour.
Refilling that pack takes about 110 watt-hours, because the charger loses some as heat. The power station loses some too, and our math counts both.
Here is what the table shows. The EcoFlow River 3 refills one pack. The other three small units refill two. The Bluetti AC70 refills five. The 1,000Wh units refill seven or eight, the 2,000Wh units 15 or 16, and the two largest 29 and 31.
Scale it to your own packs. A 2Ah pack is two fifths the size, so the AC70’s five becomes about 14. The count also assumes each pack goes on the charger empty. A half-used pack takes about half as much.
Rapid chargers and the 300W limit
Rapid chargers pull more than standard ones. The charger’s label lists its input in watts or in amps. Multiply amps by 120 volts to get watts.
Three models stop at 300W: the EcoFlow River 3, the Jackery Explorer 300 v2 and the Anker Solix C300. If the label shows more than that, the station shuts its outlet off. Two standard chargers at once come to 400W, which is also too much for those three. The EcoFlow River 3 Plus supplies 600W and the Bluetti AC70 supplies 1,000W.
The charger sets the speed, not the station. A pack takes as long to fill here as it does on a wall outlet.
Weight on the site
A station gets carried from the truck to the work. The four smallest weigh 7.8 to 10.4 lb. The AC70 weighs 22.5 lb. The 1,000Wh units weigh 23.8 to 27.6 lb, and the 2,000Wh units 39.5 to 53.4 lb.
Two small units come with a stock warning. The Anker Solix C300 refills two packs for $249, the lowest price for two, but it was sold out at Anker’s own store when we checked. The EcoFlow River 3 is the lightest at 7.8 lb, but EcoFlow’s US store was not listing it.
When a spare pack is the better buy
The small stations refill one or two packs. A spare pack or two does the same job with less to carry. A power station earns its place when you need many refills far from an outlet, or when it has other work to do, such as running lights and charging phones.
Running corded tools is a different job
A corded tool needs far more than a charger does. A 15-amp circular saw pulls about 1,400W in a cut and about 2,300W to start, which rules out the five smallest models. The circular saw guide covers which units can do it.
The picks in detail
Bluetti AC70
- 5 5Ah packs
- Cordless tool battery charger
- $359
- $0.47 per Wh
- 22.5 lb
- Weight
It refills five 5Ah packs per charge for $359. That is $0.47 per watt-hour, against $0.86 to $1.05 for the four smaller units. Its 1,000W output can run four standard 200W chargers at once, or a rapid charger with room to spare. At 22.5 lb it is lighter than every 1,000Wh unit. It refills to 80% in 45 minutes from the wall.
What fits
- 5 packs per charge for $359
- 1,000W output, enough for four standard chargers at once
- 45 minutes to 80% from the wall
What does not
- 22.5 lb, more than twice the weight of the 300W units
- Cannot be expanded with extra batteries

Jackery Explorer 300 v2
- 2 5Ah packs
- Cordless tool battery charger
- $299
- $1.04 per Wh
- 8.2 lb
- Weight
If a couple of refills will do, carry less. This unit weighs 8.2 lb and refills two 5Ah packs per charge. Its 300W output is 100W above a standard charger's 200W, so run one charger at a time and read a rapid charger's label first. It refills to 80% in 1 hour from the wall. At $299 it costs $1.04 per watt-hour, and Jackery rates its 4,000 cycles to 70% capacity, not 80%.
What fits
- 8.2 lb, the lightest unit that refills two packs
- 1 hour to 80% from the wall
What does not
- $1.04 per watt-hour
- 300W output runs one standard charger at a time
This model replaced the Explorer 300 Plus. Jackery rates its 4,000 cycles to 70% capacity, not 80%.
EcoFlow River 3 Plus
- 2 5Ah packs
- Cordless tool battery charger
- $299
- $1.05 per Wh
- 10.4 lb
- Weight
The three 300W units leave 100W of room over a standard charger. This one has 600W of output, enough for two standard chargers side by side or a rapid charger that pulls more than 300W. It refills two 5Ah packs per charge and weighs 10.4 lb. Add-on batteries take it up to 858Wh if two packs turn out to be too few. It costs $299 at EcoFlow's regular price.
What fits
- 600W output, double the 300W units
- Expandable up to 858Wh with add-on batteries
What does not
- Two packs per charge, the same as the lighter 300W units
- $1.05 per watt-hour at its regular price
This is EcoFlow's regular price. It has sold for far less during sales.
Jackery Explorer 1000 v2
- 8 5Ah packs
- Cordless tool battery charger
- $499
- $0.47 per Wh
- 23.8 lb
- Weight
For a crew, or a long day on cordless tools, this unit refills eight 5Ah packs per charge, one more than the other three 1,000Wh units. At 23.8 lb it is the lightest of them, and only 1.3 lb heavier than the Bluetti AC70. It costs $499, or $0.47 per watt-hour. A normal wall charge takes 1.6 hours, and Jackery rates its 4,000 cycles to 70% capacity.
What fits
- 8 packs per charge, the most of the 1,000Wh units
- 23.8 lb, the lightest in its class
- $0.47 per watt-hour
What does not
- 1.6 hours for a normal wall charge
- Cycle life is rated to 70% capacity, not 80%
Jackery's list price is $559, and it has sold for less at other retailers. Jackery rates its 4,000 cycles to 70% capacity, not 80%.
Verdict
Buy the Bluetti AC70 if you want one unit for a working day. Five packs for $359 is the best value here. Carry the Jackery Explorer 300 v2 if two refills are enough and weight matters most. Pick the EcoFlow River 3 Plus if you use a rapid charger or run two chargers at once. Step up to the Jackery Explorer 1000 v2 for a crew. If you only need one more pack now and then, a spare pack is lighter than any power station.
How these numbers were worked out. Runtime = battery capacity × efficiency ÷ average watts. We use 85% efficiency for AC outlets and 90% for DC and USB ports, because some energy is lost as heat on the way out. A model is marked "can't run it" when the device needs more watts than the outlet gives, or a bigger startup surge than the unit is rated for. Your own device may draw more or less than our assumed load, so treat these as estimates. Prices were checked on 2026-10-04 and change often. Full method
